SUITABILITY: There are no formal pre requisites for this course. Personal paddling skills should be at the standard for the remit of the award.

COURSE CONTENT & LEARNING OUTCOMES:This 2 day training course will be tailored to participants individual needs and utilise a range of venues across the Lake District and North West depending on weather conditions and water levels. The course can include an optional night paddle and overnight camp if participants are interested. 

Through the 2 days we will cover the following -
Leadership Skills - Trip Planning and Organisation, Effective strategies for managing a range of groups, adapting strategies to different types of craft. 
Personal Paddling Skills - Bespoke input on developing personal skills in a range of craft. 
Safety and Rescue Skills - An opportunity to explore Practical Rescue skills required for the award including Self-Rescue, techniques for performing effective rescues on others, incident management, emergency procedures, equipment solutions
Underpinning Background Knowledge - Risk Assessment and Decision Making, Communication and Navigation, Remit awareness, Environmental Awareness.

EQUIPMENT/KIT REQUIRED: Personal 'craft' & paddling clothing and equipment as required, appropriate to spending a day on and in the water (Drysuit or Warm wetsuit), Buoyancy Aid, Helmet, Sturdy closed toe footwear ( NOT Crocs, sliders, flimsy beach shoes), Warm Layers, Spare warm layers. We can often provide equipment if required please let us know if required. *Personal craft can be provided if required.

NOT INCLUDED: Travel, accommodation, any other expenses such as parking fees, etc.
