During the course you will be introduced to the fundamental map skills required to navigate competently on 'Rights Of Way' in the outdoors and countryside on which all further knowledge, skills and techniques can be built upon.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSkills and techniques that will be covered include \u003cspan\u003emaking a route selection and planning, appropriate equipment, emergency procedures, \u003c\/span\u003emap scale and map symbols, understanding grid references, how to orientate the map, recognising physical landscape features from the map, and creating and employing a navigation strategy.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eSUITABILITY: \u003c\/strong\u003eThis course is suitable for those interested in gaining the navigational knowledge that may allow them to undertake their own 'on path' routes in the outdoor environments, without need of following a guide book and with confidence in their ability. \u003cspan\u003eNo previous navigational knowledge is required but may be of benefit.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eREQUIREMENTS: \u003c\/strong\u003eThis course involves one-day of outdoor practical skills explanation, demonstration and client implementation.
